Welcome to "Historic Homes". Because...every house has a story.
I am excited to introduce a specialty to my residential real estate business--"Classic and Historic Homes." For the purpose of categorization, "Historic Homes" are considered to be those homes built before 1957. All homes built before 1950 are automatically classified as Historic. Homes built between 1950 and 1957 will be classified as Historic if they are architecturally or historically significant.
My interest in Historic Homes began as a child growing up in a Chicago bungalow. There was a secret passage in the attic and it was such a fun home to grow up in. After visiting my parents' homeland of Ireland as a child and seeing my father's childhood home that was over 200 years old, I was hooked. Just imagining the people living there and searching to discover how they lived was something I just couldn't get enough of. There was a past to that place that I could sense was trying to tell its story. At my mother's childhood home, my grandmother "baked" her Irish soda bread over the fire--truly living a history that had passed through many generations.
Historic homes have a story to tell of an era that has passed that beckons for discovery.
Listen...you can almost hear it whisper...the stories a home can tell!
Continue to check back as this aspect of my website will continue to grow! Looking forward to this journey back into time.
